Structural Preservation System's (SPS) GeoStructural Division was retained to perform compaction grouting services at the Saturn dealership in Harrisburg, Pennsylvania. SPS was selected to stabilize the existing structure and a new addition due to their ability to access height-restricted areas as well as its expertise in soil and building stabilization
SPS implemented rotary drilling, jacking, and low mobility grouting techniques to evaluate and repair settled areas. Specialized drilling equipment was needed to install grout pipes at various angles and work in close quarters. To meet this challenge, SPS utilized a low headroom access drill rig capable of operating in an area measuring five feet wide by six feet high and able to drill at the various angles. SPS immediately mobilized and successfully completed this project in just under three weeks.
Final quantities were in excess of 1,300 lineal feet drilled and 7,400 cubic feet of grout installed.
